For most people table lamps have become the thing of the past. You can use track lighting, chandeliers and dimmer switches, who needs a light bulb and shade sitting on an end table.

Table lamps are not than just light fixtures. Even a table lamp with track or fluorescent lighting can become a nice decorating element.

1. You can place a table lamp on a bedroom dresser or on the top of the chest of drawers in the kid’s room. It will be especially beneficial at night or early morning, a small shaded lamp can become a comfortable wake up call. For the little children that just learn to sleep or who are afraid of the dark you can choose colorful or character-filled lamp. Such lamp will remind them of fun times and also serve as a protection.  Small light is also very convenient for reading and your eyes won’t be strained. It is also more convenient to switch table lamp on and off.

2. You can decorate the living room with matching table laps which can be placed on two end tables in the living room. The lamps can be the same or you can also select similar colors, styles or find similar themes which could harmonize with the rest of the room. If you switch on these lamps at night they will create warm atmosphere and produce a wonderful glow. They also play a functional role.

3. If you allocate one or two desk lamps in your home office your electricity costs will decrease and protect you from overhead glare on the computer screen. There is a wide selection of office styles which can fit to any home office furniture. If your home office is a part of a large family room or any other room a table lamp should not disturb other members of your family.

4. Table lamps are very profitable for the work area like a sewing room or garage workbench, especially if you do something that requires a close vision. It is possible to move the lamp where needed.

5. Small lamps can be also used in hard-to-see areas or rooms with low visibility (the basement or attic). With the help of smaller lamp you will be able to reduce dependency on an overhead light, which can be harder to change when it burns out.

Generally speaking table lamps are small, versatile and more profitable than floor lamps or overhead lighting in your home. Also table-top lamps can become a beneficial addition to any living area.
